How to Write a Press Release

One form of Internet marketing that ties in well with public relations campaigns used by non-internet businesses is the press release. The use of press releases has been common since the beginning of newspapers. Business send out short article to news editors and reporters trying to catch their attention so that they can get a free write up in the local newspaper.

Internet marketing is very similar but in addition to getting your information distributed in a physical media the goal is to also get distributed in the virtual media, the internet. The actual format of the Press release is the same when used for internet marketing as it is for other news media marketing.
Start with a catchy title.

Something that will get the reporters, or the internet viewers attention. Boring titles get ignored, try to come up with something that will make the person want to read shat is in the article.
Summary:

Summarize what they will find in the article. On web sites this often is viewed with the title to catch the interest of the reader. It should not replace the article, just cover some of the main points that you will find in the article.
Body:

This is where you put all the details or the press release, the message that you are trying to present.
Contact Information:

Be sure to include multiple ways for the person to reach you, phone, email, even an address can be added.
What to write:

A press release is a notification of some news worthy story. That you are having a sale probably won’t get much attention. A movement in the management, offering of a new service, an award, etc, might. Make sure you write about something that really would be considered news by people other than you. You can write the release yourself or make use of one of the copy writing services that are available.
Distribute press release:

Next you need to distribute press your release. This can be done over a number of different channels. The old way was by putting all the information in an envelope and dropping it off at the News Paper office. Now this is much better accomplished by email or a press release service.
